Latest event update

As you can see via the sponsor link on the website we have had a great response once again from companies. We know they get a lot of request from charity events so means a lot when they can give something for free. We have had a great response from you as well - we have sold over 60 swims atm and when we have walked the complex and had a count up we hope to have a few more available.

This year we have changed the format slightly and have gone back to making the event a social event - the main reason for this was so all the holidays went into the auction and got hard cash for the charity, another is because we felt last year it lost a little bit of that social feeling from some because there were some great prizes up for grabs people took it a little bit too seriously and forgot to enjoy themselves, which (after raising money) is what it’s all about.

Jonny Banister will once again be doing the auction on the Friday night when we will also have the pig roast. We will sell tickets for the raffle on both nights just in case some would rather fish than join us at the talk.

As some of you will know we have added another night at the Marle Inn - this will be on Saturday night when Steve Briggs & Nick Burrage will give a talk and slide show, we will also hold the raffle on that night (bar will of course be open)!!

On the Sunday we will still have an awards ceremony after midday as Premier Baits have kindly sponsored the event and said they will supply those that catch the biggest combined weight for their lake with a gift package. You will also be given a certificate by Julian Cundiff who once again has said he will attend (bar will be open once again)!

As with all the other years you are welcome to travel up and bivvy up in the carp park on the Thursday night, this usually proves to be popular and everyone takes the chance to get to know each other and have a few beers. The draw for swims takes place Friday Midday first come first served - once you have your swim just go back to car park and await for your group to be taken to the lake. If for some reason you are not happy with your swim we will either try to move you to another on the lake or if really unhappy another lake. This of course depends on how many swims we sell, please remember it’s a charity social event and the aim is to enjoy your selves and raise money - obviously we would like everyone to catch but that just is not going to happen!

We are please to announce that Steve Briggs and Nick Burrage will be doing a Q&A

evening in the Marle inn on the saturday night we will also hold the raffle after this if you would like

to attend this but not the event tickets will be £5 on the door. On the Friday night it will be business

as usual with the pig roast and auction once again Jonny Bannister will be able to attend

and run the auction for us in his own unique style.

We still need loads of stuff for the auction and the raffle so if you know of any companys that would

like to donate then please get in touch with us it does not matter how big or how small.

We hope to increase the numbers once again this year as we have done with every event so far.

As you that have been before we like to treat the weekend as one big social event and

not as an out and out competition so don't worry if you do not see your self as a match angler all are welcome.

We will update you with more info as and when we have it you can also

visit our Facebook page for upadates or just to chat

We are pleased to announce that our next event will be held at Linford Lakes on May 18th until May 20th 2012

we will be hoping to once again increase the amount of anglers being able to attend the event more info will follows as and when we have it.

Carpin4heroes was held at Linford Lakes complex from Friday 1st July until Saturday 3rd July, it was a huge success with around 80 - 100 anglers attending throughout the weekend, including special guests Steve Briggs (who caught a 55lb cat), Julian Cundiff, Richard Farnan and Jonny Bannister, thanks very much to them all for attending! The auction on Friday night was a huge success, with over £2500 raised just on the Friday night, the total amount raised for the event will be approximately £8000 with everything included, so thanks very much to all who attended, it was a great weekend for a great cause with lots of fun also involved!

The biggest combined weight from an individual angler was 150lb 23oz, caught by Chris Austin, and the biggest carp of the event was 29lb, caught by Ian Bayliss. Thanks goes out to all the companies who sponsored the event, also to Dave Marle who provided the lakes Nicola Marle & all the staff of the marle Inn Roger for a great feast and to all the local bailiffs who volunteered their services acting as marshals throughout the event. The event is due to take place again next year but no firm date has been set as of yet.
